What Every New Bunny Owner Should Buy First

Bringing home a new bunny is exciting — and it's easy to over-buy. Here's a short, honest list of what you'll actually use right away.
1. Hay rack and a steady supply of hay
Hay should make up the largest part of your bunny's diet. A good rack keeps it tidy and off the floor.
2. Heavy ceramic feeding bowl
Ceramic bowls are harder to tip over and easy to clean. One small bowl for pellets is plenty.
3. Water bottle or bowl
Some bunnies prefer a bowl, others a bottle. Offering both for the first week helps you figure out their preference.
4. Litter tray
Most rabbits can be litter-trained. A corner tray with paper-based litter (never clumping cat litter) works well.
5. Soft mat or hideout
Somewhere comfortable to rest makes a huge difference in helping your bunny settle in.
6. A few simple chew toys
Two or three natural-material toys are enough to start. You can always add more once you see what they enjoy.
